    Remember

Words come back right before you’d forget them.

Every word you save keeps the sentence you met it in. Tinyglot schedules each one with FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition model, so a few minutes a day is enough.

    • Recall the meaning, or fill in the missing word.
    • Replay the original line, in the speaker’s voice.
    • Keyboard first: Space to reveal, 1–4 to rate.
    Everything in one quiet place

Made for learning, made for the Mac.

Watch, understand, keep. Tinyglot stays out of the way so the language can come in.

    Your own videos, too

Add a folder of shows or lectures. Tinyglot pairs each video with its subtitles (SRT, WebVTT or ASS) and reads them where they are. Nothing is copied or moved.

Glee, a tutor that knows the lesson

Ask why a sentence is built that way, or practice with what you just heard. Glee answers with the lesson in mind, using your own ChatGPT plan.

    Spaced review that adapts

FSRS learns how well you remember each word and spaces reviews to match. Every rating can be undone.

    Help for hard scripts

Tone-marked pinyin under Chinese, and stroke order for any character, one tap away.

    A gentle rhythm

A focus timer and a weekly intention that counts small sessions. Missed days never erase your progress.

    Yours to keep

Export your words to Anki, your notes as Markdown, and everything as a backup you can open anywhere.

    Private by design

Your learning stays on your Mac.

    • No account, no tracking. Your words, lessons and notes live on your Mac.
    • Your ChatGPT, your choice. Explanations use your own plan. A line goes to OpenAI only when you ask about it.
    • Credentials in the Keychain. Never in backups, never in logs.

    Questions

    Which videos work?

YouTube videos that have captions in the language you’re learning, whether written by people or generated automatically. Some videos don’t offer captions, and those can’t become lessons.

You can also open your own videos with subtitle files in SRT, WebVTT or ASS.

    Which languages can I learn?

Any language with captions or subtitles. You can study several at once, and each keeps its own words and progress. Chinese gets tone-marked pinyin and stroke order.

    Do I need ChatGPT?

No. Lessons, replaying lines, saving words and review all work without it. Explanations and Glee, the tutor, use an eligible ChatGPT plan you connect in Settings. Tinyglot never charges for AI on top.

Why does macOS ask me to confirm before opening it?

Tinyglot is sold directly rather than through the App Store, so the first time you open it macOS asks you to confirm in Privacy & Security. It takes a few seconds, once. See the steps.

What happens when the trial ends?

Tinyglot asks for a license key. Everything you saved stays on your Mac, and you can export a backup at any time, with or without a key.

Can I move my license to a new Mac?

Yes. Deactivate the old Mac in Settings › License, then enter your key on the new one.

A little curiosity. A new language.

    Little by little, it clicks.
